Namibia fam trips for travel agents and hosts

The short answer

A Namibia fam trip introduces travel agents to desert light and wide-open horizons. Use this guide to discuss a focused itinerary with a host, compare the experiences on offer and clarify what is included. Actual dates, availability and hosted arrangements depend on the individual programme.

How should a Namibia fam itinerary be planned?

Use the programme to understand Namibia’s sense of scale. Compare a desert stay with a wildlife area only when the driving or flying plan leaves enough time to experience both.

Make transfer distances and driving expectations explicit. Ask hosts to distinguish standard lodge activities from separately charged excursions and to confirm access arrangements.

What should agents confirm with the host?

Ask for a written itinerary and inclusions list before accepting. A hosted stay does not automatically include transport or every experience.

  • Accommodation, meals and the activities included at each stop.
  • International and domestic travel, transfers, fees and any permits.
  • Personal costs, cancellation terms and the expected follow-up after the trip.
  • Current entry requirements for your passport, travel advice and suitable insurance for the planned activities.

When is the best time to visit Namibia?

Namibia can be visited all year, but the dry season from May to October is the best time for wildlife viewing, including in Etosha National Park.

Namibia seasons, general pattern
MonthsSeasonWhat agents see

Some nationalities can visit Namibia without a visa; many others, including UK, US and most EU passport holders, need one, which can be applied for online as an eVisa or obtained on arrival. Check the current requirements for your passport before travelling.

Health

Malaria risk in Namibia varies by region and season: TravelHealthPro lists a high risk all year in the Kavango and Zambezi regions, a seasonal risk in several northern regions including those around Etosha, and a very low risk elsewhere. There is no yellow fever risk, but a vaccination certificate is required from travellers arriving from countries with transmission risk; speak to a travel health professional before travel.

Checked against the sources below. Rules change: confirm entry and health requirements before travel.

Questions travel agents and hosts ask
